I've wanted to do a simple make up look on here for ages, so I finally sat down and did it.
The look I've done is a sweet and simple look for a lunch date, a day out or maybe even a formal event during the day.
So here is a before and after picture, as you can see I have quite pink skin but it's not bad skin, I have had a little break out due to hormonal activity (now I think about it isn't hormonal just a horrid word). I have combination skin which can mean my nose gets a little shiney during the day.
First step is to moisturise the skin, this will help the make up go on smoothly and will prime the skin, I haven't used a primer but if you wanted too then I would recommend benefits pore-feshional or if you feel like really pushing the boat out I can't even begin to explain my love for illamasqua's hydra veil, great for dry/combination skin. For a good drug store primer I like the Rimmel fix and perfect primer.
I then go in with my foundation, I'm using MAC studio fix in nc15. I take a real techniques expert face brush and buff the product onto my skin, this gives a more natural finish. This foundation is buildable and has a medium to full coverage.
Using a small brush, I use a urban decay multi tool brush, apply your concealer. At the moment I'm using the collection concealer, I like this product as its full coverage. I use it under my eyes and on any blemishes that are still showing though the foundation. The only thing I would change about this product (blasphemy!) is that it has a pink undertone. A yellow to green undertone would cancel out any pink and purple pigment in the skin.
I like to apply my bronzer and blush next, I'm using a cream blusher by Rimmel in the shade 'pop of pink' and the MUA bronzer in shade 1. This one has a little gold shimmer in it. The MUA bronzers 1 and 2 are actually not a bad dupe for soap and glorys solar powder. Shade 2 is a bit redder though so watch out for that. But at £1 a go, it's really good!
The last step in my base make up is my powder, at the moment I'm using collection pressed powder but I also like the Rimmel stay matte powder, this removes any shine from my skin. For a highlight I'm actually using an MUA eyeshadow, the shade is called oyster, I was using a soap and glory one and I felt it was too pink so one I day I just thought- sod it. I used this and it's proving to be a great multi purpose product. The brushes I'm using for these are both urban decay.
Now onto eyes, I'm using a cream eyeshadow by Lush called sophisticated. The colour is a really pretty champagne-y colour. It's sets nicely and doesn't crease. It's £14.50 but in my opinion worth it, strong blendable colour that doesn't crease and lasts all day. Yes. I applied this with a blending brush and really worked the colour out.
I then used the same MUA eyeshadow I used before just under the brow and on the inner corner or my eyes.
Then I'm onto my eyebrows. I use a Rimmel eyebrow pencil In the colour hazel and define the tail end of my eyebrows. I bring the colour towards the thicker part of my brow lightly. Then using the Loreal eyebrow plumper I brush through my eyebrows. I'm using the shade medium dark but I think next time I'll buy the lighter shade. This product has fibres in it so it's quite similar to benefits gimme brow.
Next on to mascara and eyeliner. I like to use a liquid eyeliner I use this one by Barry M to give a long winged out effect. I like to keep it very close to the lash line and then make the wing thicker.
Next I take my mascara, the one I'm using is by urban decay called super curl.
This has a curved Brush and helps to separate my eyelashes. I find I don't need to use a eyelash curler with this product. I like to use a couple of coats of this and I use it on my lower lashes as well.
I'm finishing this look by using a red lipstick by Dior. The shade is 999 rouge ara. This is a bluey red and I replied very lightly with a brush and blotted it with powder just to make it matte. You could also use Russian red by MAC. If you want a drugstore version you could use rimmels Kate moss collection,107 is lovely. This make up would also look nice with a lovely bright pink or a coral colour.
So that's the finished look I think this is really pretty look to wear to a lunch date or a simple daytime event. Today I have my contact lenses in but I've also taken a picture with my glasses on so you can see how it looks and with glasses. I think it looks pretty with both.
To take this look from day tonight you could add a little bit of the eyeshadow underneath the eye with a little bit of smudged black eyeliner. You could also have a stronger colour on the lip, use the same one thicker or you could use a darker colour, I really like plum shades with this look.
I hope you like the look and let me know if you try it. If you liked reading this please put me on your reading list.
I also have a YouTube channel now under the handle 'lulabellemua' I've put up a 'what's my bag' video. Please check it out it would mean a lot to me.
See you soon.
